Which USB flash drives are best for Yamaha NU1X AvantGrand firmware updates?
The maximum functionality and playability of the AvantGrand series of pianos may rely on occasional software updates which are released on a sporadic basis.
It is always best to use USB sticks that are proven to work on Yamaha products, I have all too often found that not all flash drives are compatible.
Furthermore, a USB device may work with other keyboards, yet not specifically with Yamaha Keyboards, which will save you time and money if you buy the correct flash memory device the first time.
1. Verbatim 16GB USB Flash Drive
This flash drive convenient for piano players because if it ever gets forgotten, it protrudes very little that it will not distract from piano playing.
It is quite impressive that this tiny USB is all that is needed to perform software updates for an NU1X.
It has plenty of room for song data for piano performances and correct format operation.
2. SanDisk 16GB Flash Drive
The shape of this flash drive is truly sleek. For those who prefer the superb natural feel of a real piano action, you may appreciate it as well! ;)
It's simple design honestly just feels really nice and stands out to me.
Above all, it gets the job done.
3. Transcend 8GB USB Flash Drive
The Transcend flash drive is ordinary to put it simply.
However, the most important thing is that it has been tested and proven by Yamaha with the NU1X piano keyboard, which as you may know has an acoustic upright piano key action.
I have had multiple occasions where brand new flash drives did not work for reasons unknown to me.
It is best to cut-to-the-chase and go with what Yamaha recommends.
