If you are to listen to a digital piano, hybrid, or silent piano with these Yamaha headphones (and it's a modern day Yamaha piano) it's going to sound incredible and you're not going to notice that it's not coming from the actual piano.
Some customers or clients I've spoken to already know this when they put their headphones on and play their Yamaha hybrid/silent/digital piano; they can hardly tell the difference between the real piano sound and using these headphones.
Why?
If you're playing a hybrid piano, it'll already feel like the action of an acoustic piano.
It you're playing a silent piano, it is a real piano action (with the silent bar engaged)
If you're playing a digital piano, these headphones are optimized primarily for playing keyboard only!
The point is, when playing pianos that already have the same feel of an acoustic piano while using these headphones, it will sound and feel like a real acoustic piano without being able to notice.
The impact that the feel of the action has while playing the keys makes it easier to trick your brain into thinking that you're listening to the real thing.
I've had this experience with customers numerous times (not noticing the headphones weren't the real piano) so I know that there's nothing else that you need other than this pair of Yamaha HPH-50B headphones.
The thing about digital pianos these days is that new digital pianos have much better sampling than the older digital pianos. These samples are intended to sound "natural" and reflect how pianos naturally sound.
This pair of Yamaha headphones is actually really great if you're trying to play digital piano pieces.
There's nothing fancy added to this pair of headphones. They are simply manufactured to support keyboard sounds of Yamaha digital products.
Something that's really great about these headphones is that the ear pads have a larger circumference (for this inexpensive pair of headphones). It allows the sound to reverberate slightly, which is better than cheap headphones that can have even smaller ear muffs/pads.
This increase in space inside of the headphone is just enough to make you feel like you're sitting in front of the piano.
This pair of cheap Sony headphones has a smaller circumference for the ear muffs/pads which prevents any ability for the speakers to reverberate slightly when listening to the tones.
The Sony pair prevents any "acoustics" that you'd expect when you're playing a real acoustic piano.
Surprisingly, I've found that this pair of Yamaha headphones is all you need to get a really great sound from a digital piano. You literally don't need to spend anything more than $30-40 for the HPH-50B Yamaha Headphones.
It simply sounds amazing with their new digital, hybrid, and silent products. I wouldn't recommend spending any more money than what's required to purchase this pair of Yamaha headphones for your piano keyboard.
I hope you enjoyed my perspective about this pair of headphones. I've had working knowledge with this pair of headphones for about 5 years now.
It's incredible to see when customers play their piano and can't tell it's coming through the headphones until they take their headphones off! I've seen it many times now.
