This one of Cocoweb's piano lamps is quite popular!
It's the best plug-in lamp for grand pianos that I've come across as a piano tuner.
When I got my first piano lamp as a kid, the whole experience of sitting at the piano for me had changed. Under the lamp, the piano became a destination for piano players instead of a zone for furniture that took up space.
This particular lamp makes you feel like a more sophisticated version of yourself when sitting down to tickle the ivories. In fact, it's tailored to grand pianos with better design than the piano lamps I owned as a kid.
The right Piano lamp is essential for sustained practice sessions for any piano player. The subtle warm white light of the lamp is a nice touch and a feeling I've grown to appreciate over a lifetime of use.
Cocoweb Piano Lamp
The stunningly elegant, high quality solid brass, and sophisticated appearance must be why I frequently see this lamp on the highest quality grand pianos I tune.
It's easy to remove and replace the music shelf perfectly to it's previous position because it's effortless!
I've never had any problems working around these particular lamps as a piano tuner myself, and I think they are the best piano lamps for any grand piano.
Clamp the light to the Music Shelf
The lamp is equipped with a soft cushion to clamp to the music shelf holding it firmly in place.
This cushioned clamp protects the delicate finish from marks, scratches, or damage from years of use.
Once the arms of the lamp are fixed to the proper position, you won't have to reposition anything.
I've added the Cocoweb lamp to my own Yamaha P-125 digital piano at home.
Here are a few pictures of this great product with its minimalist look demonstrating just that!
The LED array lights up a large area of 3 sheet music pages all at once. The directional lighting improves the piano playing experience by eliminating direct light into your eyes from the lightbulb itself.
Here you can see how the Cocoweb piano lamp illuminates the piano keys and also covers the whole area of sheet music.
It turns a dimly lit music corner into a well-lit sanctuary for your music studies. I think it's paramount to own one of these if you or someone you love plays piano.
Light Intensity
Easily turn the dial below to set how much light you'd like from this lamp.
The amount of light brightness can be adjusted by Cocoweb's optional dimmer clip near the base of the mounting clamp. It can be turned extra dim for intimate environments.
In the photo above, you can see the light switch that can be easily toggled back and forth. This close-up photo also shows off its matte powder-coated finish.
I love this simple switch that is elegant in its own way. It makes you feel like you are studying the music just by a flip of a switch.
The tubular lights can be turned upwards or downwards.
In the photo with the Cocoweb packagin I have the right light tilted upwards while the left light is tilted downwards, ensuring full coverage of displaying the box.
Similar to sheet music, it's important to be able to light up the entire span of the sheet music that's sitting in front of you.

Will the piano tuner need to remove the piano light?
All wires are easily detached/unplugged and the lamp will forever move as one piece with the music shelf.
The wires to power this lamp are specifically designed so that piano tuners can easily disconnect the cables from the music shelf for removal during the seasonal tuning of the piano.
Do piano lamps generate heat to disturb the piano?
Yes, piano lamps can generate enough heat to disturb the tuning. This is a simple reality unless you go with a florescent piano lamp lightbulb that isn't as easy-on-the-eyes.
In order to prevent ill-effects of the warmth from the lightbulb, the first step is to monitor your temperature and humidity.
Beyond monitoring temperature and humidity in your environment, implement a humidifier or dehumidifier depending on what the hygrometer indicates.
Included above is advice I have about these 3 topics.
Piano Light
In darkness, this piano light imbues a subtle feeling of inspiration that will permeate each practice routine. The dimmer switch can be adjusted to created the perfect ambient light.
Shedding plenty of light, time spent at the piano becomes a delicate and powerful habitual cue for getting back to the piano bench for practice.

Is there an outlet nearby? Considering whether there's a nearby outlet can help you determine how long you need the cable to be, or whether you'd prefer a battery powered lamp instead.
Why Are Piano Lamps So Expensive?
Due to their specific features, quality, design, and style, piano lamps end up being expensive because of their uniqueness and specific traits. Since the market is much smaller for Cocoweb products, significant markups are needed for businesses to turn a profit.
Features
Dimmer Wheel - This piano light comes with a dimmer that makes the light operation easy to find the perfect brightness.
Easy to unplug - Some piano lights like the Cocoweb lamp on this page, detach in specific areas so it's easier for the piano tuner whenever the piano gets tuned.
Directional lighting - These lamps are specifically designed to direct a wide array of light towards a few pages of sheet music on the music shelf.
Energy Efficiency - Specific lamps may use less electricity so that pianists feel less heat coming from the lamp itself
Quality
Piano lamps are typically made of higher quality materials like the finest brass, mahogany bronze, powder coating, and specific composites of metals. Such materials are more expensive than plastic and industrial sheet metals.
Design
It's made to either latch onto pianos or rest on top of the piano's surface. This limits this product's ability to be useful in other arenas, further shrinking the market potential of this unique product.
Style
These ornate lights tend to have a beautiful finish that accentuates a feeling of artistry. It looks a certain way that is hardly compatible in any other environment.
Considering all of these features, piano lights are available for a great price given their unique value for pianists.
