The GoveeLife Dehumidifier that I own meets all of my requirements to keep a piano safe from dangerous levels of high humidity.

This dehumidifier includes additional smart features that are available on the Govee app. It's easiest to connect to the dehumidifier via bluetooth.

My favorite part about this humidifier is that I can monitor the humidity from anywhere in the world with an internet connection, and will get notified when the bucket is full!

GoveeLife Dehumidifier Review: Humidity Controlled Dehumidifier

This dehumidifier meets all of the requirements necessary to sufficiently protect your piano against the negative impacts of high humidity on a piano.

The Dehumidifier (above) is ON, it's functioning with the lights OFF which can be useful when running the dehumidifier at night. This way, the dehumidifier won't pollute the room with ambient light from the LED screen at night-time.

Both acoustic and digital pianos should be protected from high levels of humidity due to its impact on wooden parts and electrical circuit boards.

Piano Dehumidifier - Features

There are many different dehumidifier brands, models, and features that may or may not be effective for your pianos' needs.

Professional piano technicians like myself have found that dehumidifiers with the greatest value have a few of the following criteria listed below.

Must-have Features

Large tank (2 Gallons)
Drainage features (hose to drain)
High capacity/square footage (4,000ft+ or 50pints/day)
Minimal noisiness level (Important for music rooms)

These "must-have" features are the bare minimum features needed from a dehumidifier in order to be effective at protecting your piano from dangerous humidity levels.

I don't recommend buying a dehumidifier that does not meet these minimum requirements. If it doesn't have these features, then whatever you're buying will be ineffective at dehumidifying the room that your piano is sitting in.

The bucket capacity for this dehumidifier contains 2 gallons of water for each time the bucket gets emptied. This is a good amount of water that will keep your dehumidifier busy for days if not weeks!

The GoveeLife Dehumidifier for piano also includes a hose that can be emptied into a drain for unlimited dehumidifying purposes. This will eliminate any need to empty a bucket or maintain the dehumidifer at all.

With the hose provided, you can "set it and forget it!"

If I had a drain in my basement, then I would hook this up to the drain, unfortunately, I'll have to empty the bucket each time the bucket becomes full.

These "nice-to-have" features listed above are helpful and convenient, but are not essential in protecting your piano against high humidity.

GoveeLife Dehumidifier Review: Pros and Cons

After owning my Govee Dehumidifier for a year I've found the following pros and cons with the appliance itself.

Pros

Large 2.0 gallon bucket
Hose attached for unlimited dehumidifying
Control from your phone
Light panel can be completely dimmed/off
It rolls easily on the floor

Depending on how high the humidity is, the bucket will fill up without trouble.

Controlling the dehumidifier from afar is quite luxurious and can be kinda fun when the unit is brand new. It's like having a new toy that you can play around with!

Cons

Isn't completely silent
Constantly runs
Can raise the temperature of the room

I never realized that dehumidifiers must run 3-4x longer to dehumidify a room, than a humidifier takes to humidify a room.

They run constantly and can sometimes raise the temperature in a room, reversing the work done by an A/C unit.

There's no perfect dehumidifier out there for a small piano rooms, however, the GoveeLife Dehumidifier does a good job for a simple unit costing only $249.99.

I own this humidifier and would recommend it to anyone who needs help controlling their high humidity to properly care for their piano.

My recommendation would be to connect the hose to a drain so that you can dehumidify your home constantly!

Buy If...

You need a solution for high humidity for your acoustic or digital piano
You don't want to invest in a whole house dehumidification system
You have trouble reaching your target humidity level
You want an upgraded dehumidifier you can control with your phone

Don't Buy If...

You need something that's completely silent
You can't have it run constantly
It's the middle of winter
You don't want room dehumidifiers

The importance of keeping your humidity under control is often understated. It is crucial to keep the temperature and humidity of your piano room at a constant level for the best results, as they are the single most important variables when preserving the condition of your piano.

Surprisingly, my energy bill is at its lowest! Even though I've been running this dehumidifier through the months of May and June!!

Is the Govee Dehumidifier worth it?

Yes!

The Govee Dehumidifier is effective at knocking down the humidity for the piano in your livingroom.

It's convenient to use due to being able to control it from your phone.

I enjoy owning it, especially when it get's hot and sticky in the summer time. It provides relief for any basement or humid home.

Lastly, it can properly protect your piano against the "elements" or negative effects of high relative humidity.

At the time of this writing the GoveeLife Dehumidifier costs $259.99 on Amazon.

As far as having a dehumidifier that has a 2.0 gallon bucket, works effectively, and doesn't take up much energy, I think that it's worth it!

Govee Dehumidifier

After about 30-40 minutes, the Dehumidifier was able to reduce the relative humidity by about 15%, which is sufficient to lower the humidity to the ideal humidity level for most living rooms.

In general, dehumidifiers are effective, however, they need to be constantly running in order to achieve stable humidity levels.
