I found it!

Here is the correct air filter for the AirCare Essick H12.

The filter name is the 1045 Super Wick. It's Wick Model No. 1045 available at www.EssickAir.com

Though, it's also available on Amazon!

Don't buy any other humidifier filter because it will not fit the correct size, meaning that it won't humidify effectively.

AirCare Filter Cost

For the low price of $25.94 at the time of writing this blog, order the filter to maintain your humidifier.

It's incredible that the only maintenance besides water refilling for a well-humidified room is a simple filter that only costs around $25.

Imagine having to install a professional humidification system in your home and maintaining it by hiring professionals. What a bargain/headache relief simply changing a humidifier is!

Change Humidifier Filter Indicator

On the Aircare LED screen, the letters "CF" appear which indicate that it's time to "Change Filter."

To eliminate the message on the LED screen, you can simply unplug the the humidifier from the wall so that it resets. The message will appear after about 750 hours of use.

So, if you don't have the time or money to buy a filter, you can reset the Humidifier discontinue displaying the message by unplugging the humidifier.

Correct Air Filter for AirCare Humidifier

AirCare Humidifier Filter

This filter has a few qualities that are necessary and aren't replicated in other filters, therefore it's important to purchase the correct filter for the AirCare humidifier.

It's unique/specific to my AirCare Humidifier in the following ways:

  • Height and Width

  • Plastic guide for the styrofoam water bobber

  • Plastic perimeter contains the filter and attaches perfectly to the inside of the humidifier tank

Don't make the mistake I did by buying the wrong filter on Amazon twice! Get the correct one here and buy once!

On the top of the plastic cartridge you can see that it says:

"AirCare"

"Wick Model No. 1045"

"1-800-547-8888"

This way, you know that it's the correct filter!

Here you can see where the plastic component on the top right hand side of the filter guides the styrofoam float. It works to indicate the water level to the electronic sensor.

When the water is low, the LED light panel will say "F" for Fill, because you'll need to refill the water tank at that point.

The new filter is installed in the bottom of the humidifier where it soaks up the water to facilitate the dispersement of humidity into the air.

If you look closely near the bottom of the filter, you can see the filter wicking up the water at the visible water line.

Old/Used Humidifier Filter

Here is my filter after about 750 hours of use. The filter shows signs of age by yellowing a little bit, though it doesn't look all that bad when you think about it.

The good part about having a humidifier like this is that the only maintenance to be had is to replace this filter.

In-home humidification systems for the whole house can cause mold or even more expensive maintenance issues that are hardly ever considered. Thankfully, all I have to do is replace the filter in the humidifier.

Before I knew how to replace the filter, I began to dismantle it thinking that I had to replace the filter portion only and not the plastic portion surrounding it.

This turned out to be a waste of time because a new filter comes provided with the plastic casing so that the whole filter unit gets replaced. It's a lot easier than having to try to figure out how to get a filter back in the cartridge.

Incorrect Humidifier Filters

AirCare Humidifier Filter

As you can see here, I made the mistake of ordering the wrong filter and attempted to fit it inside of the filter case that was provided with the old filter that I had.

The problem with this approach is that it doesn't cover the rear vent entirely, which causes humidification to be less effective.

AirCare Humidifier Filter

The filter should cover across the entire area of the vent so that all air goes through the wet filter. When I bought the incorrect filter, I realized how ineffective the humidifier becomes due to faulty ventilation.

Fun Fact: Humidifiers with (correctly sized) filters are far more effective at humidifying. This is because the filter disperses the water across the ventilated area powered by a fan. Without this filter, filterless humidifiers basically just run a fan over a puddle of water, without using dispersement and strategic ventilation to humidify the room.

As you can see, this filter is not wide enough to cover the full area of where the air travels through. It should cover the full width of the black plastic perimeter/cartridge that contains the filter.

The filter above is incorrect.

It may look like it's for the AirCare humidifier I have, however, it's the incorrect size, won't fit as it's supposed to, and causes the humidifier to be ineffective at humidifying.

Don't waste time choosing the wrong AirCare filter from Amazon! Get the correct filter today!

Here is another filter I purchased incorrectly on Amazon. I had thought it was the correct filter, however it was not the correct size.

It's important to be careful when purchasing filters because it is very easy to get confused by which filter is needed for your unit.
