In this article I'm going to share my HONEST Milwaukee M12 Drill review for those wondering if they are still WORTH IT in 2025!

For this review, I have used this tool hundreds of times when installing Piano LifeSaver systems for piano humidity control. So, I'm familiar with how this tool operates on a daily basis. I'll go over battery life, interchangeable combo heads, and performance.

I'll share my critical opinion with 10 years experience as a professional piano tuner.

Let's dive right in!

Should you buy the Milwaukee M12 Compact Drill and Driver Kit?

Small Drill

Buy if:

  • You need a lightweight drill to operate in hard-to-reach places

  • You need a battery powered hand drill for household use and a variety of small jobs

  • You need a drill that has a light to shine on the job

  • You need interchangeable drill heads for multiple angles or precise positioning

Don't buy if:

  • You need extra heavy-duty torque for tough jobs

  • You need extra power requiring a direct power cord connection from the wall

  • You need a drill for all-day use

  • You don't already have miscellaneous drill bits/drivers for your own purposes

Other Features

The Milwaukee M12 Drill has just about all the feature that you'd want in a drill.

  • Adjustable chuck size up to 6.35mm

  • Multiple batteries and charger

  • Lightweight/Compact

  • Portability

  • Torque 300 inch pounds

The only thing missing would be a larger carry case, higher power, extended battery life for all-day use.

Is the Milwaukee M12 Drill worth it?

Yes! I upgraded from my old DeWalt drill that was a little too large and didn't offer the flexibility when it comes to hard-to-reach areas.

This is the ultimate lightweight drill for small jobs around the house (or the inside of a piano).

Attributes:

  • 4 Interchangeable drill tips

  • 2 quick-charge batteries

  • 1 Charging station

  • 1 Small power drill

Job satisfaction often comes down to having great tools. A large drill can be much more difficult to perform the work, which can be a source of frustration.

Electronic Drill

This was my old DeWalt drill for installing Piano Life Saver Systems. I always carry the charger for a fully charged battery.

While the drill works great, it doesn’t always fit in all tight spaces.

After a recommendation from my colleague Matthew Banks, I chose to get a new drill from Milwaukee Tools that is best suited for the job.
